Advancing Knowledge Entrepreneurship and Innovation for Economic Growth and Social Well-Being in Europe (AEGIS). Examining knowledge-intensive entrepreneurship, analysing its role in the economic development, its defining characteristics, boundaries, scope and incentives in high technology as well as in low technology sectors and in services will translate its analytical findings into diagnostics tools for country or sector specific assessment of knowledge-intensive entrepreneurship to elaborate recommendations for a diverse set of policies addressing supply, demand and system features. Such policies relate to research and development, human resources, innovation, public and private consumption, institutions, and regulation at the national and supra-national levels. The project used a broad spectrum of analytical techniques, including: a survey on entrepreneurship and innovation within 10 European countries, qualitative techniques, case studies, modelling and sophisticated statistical and econometric analysis, as well as advanced policy analysis
