Challenge
As Greece’s Independent Power Transmission Operator, IPTO plays a critical role in ensuring the stability and efficiency of the country’s electricity transmission network. To support its operations and long-term strategic goals, IPTO required a comprehensive IT Strategy that would enhance digital capabilities, optimize IT investments, and align with industry best practices. The project focused exclusively on Information Technology (IT) and did not include Operational Technology (OT) systems.
Approach
PLANET team faced the challenge around two key phases:
IT Landscape Assessment
Our Team conducted an in-depth evaluation of IPTO’s existing IT infrastructure, applications, governance, and cybersecurity framework. In order to assess the current state of IT systems and processes, identify gaps and opportunities for improvement and align IT priorities with business and regulatory requirements.
A well-designed IT Strategy isn’t just about technology—it’s about enabling smarter, more resilient operations. With a clear roadmap, IPTO is now set to lead Greece’s energy sector into a digitally empowered future.
IT Strategy Development & Five-Year Action Plan
Based on the assessment, we developed a structured five-year IT Strategy and Action Plan to guide IPTOs digital transformation. This included:
- A roadmap for IT investments, system upgrades, and integrations.
- Guidelines for strengthening cybersecurity and data governance.
- Recommendations for IT governance and operational efficiency improvements.
Results & Impact
The project delivered a clear, actionable IT Strategy, enabling IPTO to:
- Optimize IT operations and governance.
- Strengthen cybersecurity and regulatory compliance.
- Enhance scalability and digital transformation readiness.
With a well-defined roadmap, IPTO is now equipped to modernize its IT landscape and support Greece’s evolving energy sector with efficient, secure, and future-proof digital infrastructure.
